HOT ! 3\'6 x 6\'5 Antique Persian Malayer on Ivory Ground #3057

Hailing from the village of Malayer in Persia, this beautiful antique rug from the late 19 century has got a whimsical spirit that will put a smile on your face. Framed by an ivory ground at the top and bottom, a wonderful diamond medallion shape at the heart of this rug encapsulates a lovely linear pattern of paisley motifs. Larger and more intricately designed paisley motifs and other tribal patterns are spaciously dispersed over the fabulous ivory ground, a great juxtaposition to the tight linear pattern in the middle. Darling turtle elements against the aqua blue border add a playful touch to the overall design.

Handwoven with vegetable dyed wool, the weaver was clearly inspired by their environment and the aesthetics of their culture. Warm colors and cool tones combine to make a fabulous display of what was in the weaver’s heart. Although this beauty has seen a lot of life, it is a worn piece, so please see pics for full character and condition. Place this treasure in any space in need of charm, style, and beauty.
