Detailed information on 8\'3\'\'x11 Hand Knotted Wool Coral Bokhara Traditional Geometric 200 KPSI silky Sheen Rug

Drawing from the centuries old Bokhara weaving tradition of Central Asia, this 8\'3\" × 11\' hand knotted wool rug presents an elongated 8×11 rectangular format with a 0.25” low pile, a cotton foundation, and a refined knot density of approximately 200 KPSI (knots per square inch). The finely clipped wool surface carries a gentle silky sheen, giving the rug clarity and precision while maintaining a soft, composed feel underfoot.

Bokhara design is defined by repetition, geometry, and quiet discipline rather than narrative florals or dramatic medallions. The field of this rug is organized around a rhythmic lattice of geometric motifs, often referred to as ‘guls’, arranged in evenly spaced rows that create a sense of visual order and continuity. These motifs are not meant to be read individually, but collectively, forming a cohesive pattern that feels stable and grounded. The coral and warm orange tones of the field establish a rich yet approachable base, softened by beige, ivory, and dusty rose highlights that prevent the palette from feeling heavy Accents of charcoal, slate, and muted brown provide contrast and definition, outlining the geometric forms and giving them architectural clarity. The borders, like the central field, is layered with smaller repeating motifs that reinforce symmetry and frame the composition. This balance between repetition and restraint is a hallmark of Bokhara design, resulting in a rug that feels composed and timeless rather than decorative for its own sake. This rug is particularly well suited for long living rooms, dining areas, hallways, or offices where its elongated proportions and orderly design can anchor the space. Its warm yet muted palette pairs naturally with wood, leather, and neutral upholstery, while the geometric structure makes it an excellent complement to both traditional and contemporary interiors.

Story Behind the Art Bokhara is a term commonly used to describe Tekke-faced rugs. Tekke was a tribe from the area of Bokhara in Central Asia. Bokhara rugs have small, repeating geometric designs using the elephant foot and octagonal gul motifs. Today \"Bokhara\" designed rugs are made across the rug-weaving world, including Pakistan, Iran, India, Turkey, Afghanistan, and Central Asia. There are different styles of Bokharas depending on where they are made. Some will have more variety of colors, use wool or silk foundation yarns instead of cotton, leave the pile height longer, or use different style of knots. However, they are all still considered Bokharas because of the design.
