Acts as a humectant. It is the sodium salt of natural L-lactic acid, which is produced by fermentation of sugar. It has a mild saline taste, antimicrobial properties and is neutral by pH. Applicable for all skin types and can be used in both rinse-off- and leave-on product formulations. It has specific benefits in the manufacture of bar soap, including increasing hardness of the bar, reducing water loss and cracking, and facilitating stamping and release from molds. It is also used in bath and shower products, as well as hair care formulations. Used in body lotions, hand creams, facial products, men’s care and baby care products.
