A daybed with a trundle might be the most versatile piece of furniture for a small bedroom. During the day, the Cascade Day Bed sits against the wall like a sofa, taking up a single-bed footprint. Pull out the trundle at night and you have two full sleeping surfaces in roughly the same space as one. It\'s a practical solution for guest rooms, kids\' rooms, or any situation where you need sleeping space but can\'t commit an entire room to it.
The Cascade comes in grey fabric, which is a soft neutral that works with a wide range of room colours. Single and twin size, with mattress support already included in both sleeping surfaces. The trundle accommodates a mattress up to 7.5 inches in height, so a standard twin foam or innerspring mattress will work without issue.
The real advantage of this configuration is the daytime function. When the trundle is tucked away, the Cascade reads as a couch. Add a few cushions or bolster pillows along the wall side and it\'s a comfortable sitting spot for reading, homework, or hanging out. Most of the daybeds we sell go into rooms that need to pull double duty: a home office that occasionally hosts a guest, a child\'s room that also serves as a playroom, a condo den where the second bedroom was converted to workspace.
The grey fabric holds up well in active rooms. It doesn\'t show every bit of lint, and it\'s a shade that photographs neutrally if you\'re ever posting the space online. With a darker throw or a colourful cushion, it takes on whatever personality the room needs.
We\'ve been selling daybeds in Brantford since 1987, and the question we hear most often is, \"Will it actually feel like a real bed?\" The honest answer is yes, when it\'s set up with a proper mattress. A thin foam pad isn\'t going to cut it for regular use, but a proper 6 or 7-inch twin mattress on the main bed sleeps well. We carry compatible twin mattresses in the showroom and can help you match the right one.
The trundle drawer on the Cascade accommodates mattresses up to 7.5 inches tall. Most twin foam mattresses and thinner innerspring mattresses fall within this range. The important thing is to measure your mattress before assuming it will fit. A standard memory foam mattress in queen or king size often runs 10 to 12 inches, which is too tall, but twin and single versions at the 6 to 7.5-inch range are widely available and work perfectly.
If you\'re buying a mattress for the trundle at the same time as the frame, it helps to have the frame first so you can confirm the height clearance. We\'re happy to help you match the right mattress at the showroom. Browse the mattress collection online to get a sense of what\'s available, or take the mattress quiz for a recommendation. The bed frames collection also has other trundle and space-saving options if you want to compare. And good-quality twin bedding for both sleeping surfaces is worth thinking through before guests arrive.
